A Jewel Box Transformation of a Historic Cottage

This 1930 Cape Cod bungalow was reimagined to blend timeless charm with modern function. A modest addition provided adequate space for a dedicated sewing area, full-size laundry, generous storage, and an expanded first-floor bathroom, creating the opportunity for main-level living without compromising the home’s historic character.

The first floor underwent an extensive renovation. The kitchen and dining areas were opened into one cohesive space, improving flow and natural light while providing a true cook’s-level kitchen. Exterior entrances were updated for better access and curb appeal, reflecting the home’s classic bungalow style.

Upstairs, the primary bathroom was thoughtfully expanded by just 18 inches into an adjacent room to accommodate a large shower, double vanity, linen cabinet, and heated floors. The renovation also addressed long-standing issues, including adding hot water to the bathroom sink, enhancing both comfort and functionality.

Throughout the home, colorful cabinetry, elegant floral patterns, and the integration of the client’s antique furniture brought warmth, personality, and continuity.
